The Lip Augmentation Procedure

The Sterilization and Anesthesia

Lip augmentation patients will be cleansed with an anti-bacterial agent as well as possibly receive a topical numbing medication and ice to provide comfort. Alternatively, Dr. Champion may recommend performing a nerve block in your mouth for anesthesia. Options will be discussed at the time of an initial consultation.

The Lip Augmentation Technique

During lip augmentation, Dr. Champion will use multiple injections of the selected filler to equally distribute the filler throughout the lip while applying particular attention to create a defining bow or raising the vermillion border when necessary. Dr. Champion will cleanse the treatment area and apply ice to reduce swelling that may follow after the procedure. In some cases, your lips may feel over-filled which will subside within a short period of time.

Lip Augmentation Recovery

Lip augmentation requires little recovery time. However, Dr. Champion will provide you with a list of instructions to help minimize bruising and swelling.

Rare complications include: infection, fillers with implantable materials have a risk of producing lumps or nodules that may require treatment, asymmetry between the lips, bleeding, bruising and swelling.

Many injectable filler results change over time. Lip augmentation may need to be repeated in order to maintain the benefit. Yet, Dr. Champion's patients enjoy the outcome of their more youthful, fuller and defined lips.
