Can I have a “Mommy Makeover”?

spl112442_001-ali-landry-239x300 Can I have a "Mommy Makeover"? Newport Beach Female Plastic Surgeon | Orange CountyMany people have a general idea of what a “Mommy Makeover” is just from the clever name that was derived from the commonality of the procedure.  Basically it makes mommy over, right?  Yes!  Moms can get their pre-baby body back with a breast procedure and tummy procedure performed at the same time!  Doing it at once, saves on recovery time so mom can get back to being a mom!  Just a side note, but one thing you may not know is that you really don’t have to be a mom to have a “Mommy Makeover”.

Although it is mostly moms who want this procedure, weight loss patients can also benefit from it because of the breast deflation and loose skin associated from weight loss.  With that said & focusing on moms, “Mommy Makeovers” are  a popular procedure with a high satisfaction rate.  After babies and nursing, you lose the volume you once had in your breasts and they become deflated, droopy and you may even have stretch marks.

Carrying your baby for all those months can loosen your stomach muscles and stretch out your skin resulting in possible stretch marks and loose skin that unfortunately, no amount of exercise will get rid of.  Do you still have that pooch even though you do thousands of sit ups and eat right?  That is most likely because your abdominal muscles have loosened up and need to get tightened up again, but that can be better determined at your exam.  If you are done with babies and are ready to get your body back to pre-baby shape, interested in learning more about the procedure and most importantly, which procedures would benefit you the most, you may want to consider a “Mommy Makeover” with Dr. Angela Champion.

What is a Breast Augmentation?

images-2 What is a Breast Augmentation? Newport Beach Female Plastic Surgeon | Orange CountyBreast Augmentation

When you think of a breast augmentation, some people automatically think of very large, voluminous breasts.  While you can achieve that, there are many women walking around who have had a breast augmentation and you would never know because they look so natural.  This procedure is one of the most gratifying procedures and is the most requested procedure by women today! Not only does it increase the volume and fullness of your breasts, it can also enhance your self-image and confidence!

Silicone gel or saline implants are typically placed under the muscle through an incision which is well-hidden in an area like the breast fold, under the areola or in your under arm. This procedure can take about an hour to an hour and a half under general anesthesia (you are asleep). Over the next several weeks, continue to follow your post-op instructions and you should notice your swelling resolving, your implants dropping, your breasts softening and looking more and more like the breasts you envisioned.  There are activity restrictions that your surgeon will discuss with you but you can typically return to most, if not all, of your normal activity within 4-6 weeks or sooner depending on how you heal.  Be sure to see a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, like Dr. Champion, for your consultation to learn if you are a good candidate for this procedure!

Why is Breast Augmentation SO Popular?

BREAST-AUGMENTATION-SCOTTSDALE-227x300 Why is Breast Augmentation SO Popular? Newport Beach Female Plastic Surgeon | Orange CountyThe American Society of Plastic Surgery (ASPS) recently released their 2014 stats stating that Breast Augmentation Reigns Supreme! But WHY? Why is it so popular? In 2014, there were approximately 286,254 breast augmentation procedures done making it the #1 cosmetic procedure in the US with nearly 1.7 million cosmetic procedures total. WOW!! A majority of women (86%) start researching breast enhancement as a result of feeling self-conscious for many reasons, some of them being because they are simply smaller than they would like, their breasts are asymmetric, they are deflated from having kids/weight loss/genetics or they feel droopy!

After having the procedure, only 13% felt self-conscious. That is a remarkable drop, wouldn’t you say?? OK, just one more statistic, but you will love it. Did you know that 98% of women are satisfied with their breast augmentation results and on a scale of 1 to 10, gave it a perfect 10 reporting that their results met or exceeded their expectations? OUTSTANDING, right!?! We, as women, all have our own reasons for having a breast augmentation whether it’s to return fullness & volume to where it was (or never was) or because we feel disproportionate and want our body to be more balanced. What’s wrong with wanting to be happy & confident when we look in the mirror?! Nothing. Whatever your reason, Dr. Angela Champion is here to help answer any questions or concerns you may have and because she is a woman, she understands how we think & what we want.

Most Popular Plastic Surgery Procedures….By Age!!

109862658-300x200 Most Popular Plastic Surgery Procedures….By Age!! Newport Beach Female Plastic Surgeon | Orange CountyBelieve it or not but there are trends in Plastic Surgery!! One year, the “must do” procedure may be a lip augmentation and then the next year it’s cool sculpting and then the next year it’s a Brazilian Butt Lift! As the seasons change, so do most trends, but there are some that have remained constant throughout the years…simply due to age. Here are the most popular procedures grouped by age:

In Our Teens:

As they graduate high school and start a new chapter in their lives, the timing is right for a little nose reshaping. College is exciting and intimidating at the same time, but with their new nose, they can start college without that extra self-conscious or insecure feeling.

In Our 20’s:

Women’s bodies are typically fully developed at this age and as we look in the mirror, we may desire a fuller chest to balance with our hips. Again, because appearance is so important at this age, a breast enhancement procedure can help boost confidence.

In Our 30’s:

We start to notice our metabolism slowing down, so weight is harder to lose and fat starts to show up in different and unwanted areas! Liposuction is a popular procedure at this age for both men and women.

In Our 40’s:

Aging has kicked in. We look in the mirror and notice the early signs of aging around our eyes. Where did that extra skin come from that has made it impossible to wear eyeliner anymore!?! Upper eyelid surgery is typically the “go to” procedure in our 40’s because the recovery is quick and the results are very positive.

In Our 50’s:

We are feeling like we are 40 but our faces seem to be falling!! How we feel doesn’t match how we look when we look in the mirror. If you are looking for something a little more permanent than fillers to turn back the clock or if fillers have stopped doing the trick, a facelift is the next step.

Everyone ages differently. Everyone looks at themselves differently. You may not be “there” yet but when you are, look into your options and do your due diligence before jumping into anything. Plastic surgery will always be here…at any age!
